Terms and Conditions

Transit insurance covers damage to goods due to following circumstances:

  • SRCC (Strikes, Riots, and Civil Commotion)

  • Fire or Explosion

  • Overturning or Derailment of Land Conveyance Collision

  • Earthquake Volcanic Eruption or lightening

  • River or Lake Water entering same

  • Loading & Unloading damages

  • Theft & Malicious damage

  • Non-delivery/Shortage

The policy has general exclusions as below:

  • Normal wear and tear

  • Normal leakage

  • War, riots and civil commotions

  • Willful or intentional damages

  • Ship or Craft (excludes Water but not Ice) Covered

  • Inadequate or incorrect packaging done by the insured

  • Delays

  • Inherent vice

  • Malicious damages

  • Radioactive contaminations


In the event of an Incident, it is important to intimate the Insurance company within 24 hours of Incidence. The Insurance company will appoint a surveyor within 48 hours of the Incidence for reporting and in may cases the Survey may be conducted within 72 Hours of the Incident. After that, the insurer’s appointed surveyor visits the site at which the cargo was damaged and submits a detailed report to the insurance company.

At the time of filing a claim the following documents shall be needed:

  • Insurance Policy

  • Original or copy of shipping invoices and Packing List

  • Original Bill of Lading and/or other contract of carriage

  • Landing Remarks and Weighment Notes at final destination.

  • Packing List

  • Notification to Carriers
